The Inverse Link Between Neurodegenerative Disease & Antioxidants:

When we talk about antioxidants having an effect on the brain, there are a number of things we could be referring to. Firstly, some antioxidants have the power to restore cognitive functioning to the brain, meaning that you can technically become "smarter" by consuming such antioxidants. Others of course work to prevent any damage being done to brain cells. Furthermore, another set of antioxidants will help to rid the brain of plaque, toxins, and build up resulting from pollutants in the blood stream.

However, there is one antioxidant which is able to claim the award for doing all of these things at once. It's called resveratrol, and it is a naturally occurring chemical found in plants and nuts. Unlike any other antioxidant out there currently known to man, resveratrol patrols the human body searching for tasks to do. Whether it be repairing a cell, killing a toxin, or latching on to a brain cell to prevent its destruction - resveratrol does it all. 

Science Has Proven Resveratrol Works

In patients who were showing the first microscopic signs of degenerative brain disease, a constant high dosage of resveratrol actually showed not just a decrease in the onset of degenerative brain diseases such as Parkinsons or Alzheimers - but actually a downright reversal in the condition itself. If this wasn't enough - once the symptoms had disappeared (on the cellular level), they did not return, because the resveratrol continued to work to protect the brain.

If this isn't a case of concrete scientific evidence, we don't know what is.

Antioxidants Are The Key To Longevity

As you can see from the studies done in to antioxidants such as resveratrol, it would appear that antioxidants are the key to living a prosperous and healthy life. Even with all the publicity out there about the benefits that can be had from such supplements, many consumers continue to ignore the recommendations.

But with such a solid backing from the medical world, we are left wondering why people don't research the compounds before they begin to criticize them. Perhaps this is simply a function of human nature at play.

Whatever the reason, these skeptics cannot deny the fact that the results seen in medical trials such as the one mentioned above for resveratrol are particularly convincing, and surely cannot be ignored.
